Our founder

Bob Jones was born May 24th, 1922 in Elora, Ontario. He was a Veteran of the Second World War who fought in Holland & Germany with the 13th Field Artillery Regiment 3rd Division. Bob had an interest for moving water & got into the pump industry after his time serving. Before starting Metropolitan Pump, Bob was the Sales Manager of Beatty Bros/GSW in the 60’s and in the 70’s, he was the National Sales Manager for Hydromatic Pumps. Bob had such a great understanding of pumps, he eventually became a president of the Canadian Pump Manufacturer’s Association & was honored with a Lifetime Membership. After decades of  learning the industry & making connections, Bob decided to go out on his own & started Metropolitan Pump Company Limited in 1976. He served as president until retiring in 1992, passing MPC leadership down in the family to his son-in-law Lee Murray along with all of his industry knowledge.  Metropolitan Pump remains in Bob’s family to this day.
